Position Title: Summer Student Application- Branch Out
Date: May-August 2023
Position Description:
Our team in iHadLab is working on developing and instrumenting a cycling ergometer for the rehabilitation of MS patients. We will instrument the cycling ergometer with different electromechanical sensors, including torque meter, force sensor, heart rate sensor, and hall sensors. This sensor fusion system will collect health and performance data of the user during the exercise.
We will support two Branch Out Undergraduate applications focused on:
Position 1: Developing the electromechanical system needed to collect and transfer data from biosensors to a DAQ system.
Position 2– Designing and manufacturing mechanical parts and validate the functionality of the design.
Qualifications:
Position 1: The applicant must
- be at the 3rd or 4th year of their program
- have GPA >3.4/4.0
- have an electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering background
- have experience in working with sensors and developing electromechanical systems
- be passionate about developing, testing, troubleshooting new electromechanical systems
Position 2: The applicant must
- be at the 3rd or 4th year of their program
- have GPA >3.4/4.0
- have an mechanical or biomedical engineering background
- have experience in designing mechanical parts using Solidworks
- have experience in manufacturing parts using 3D printing
- be passionate about developing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems

The Study in Canada Scholarships (SiCS) provide students from post-secondary institutions located in the new eligible countries/territories with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
iHadLab is going to support one student’s application for SiCS scholarship.
Eligibility:
Candidates must be citizens of one of the following eligible countries/territories:
• Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan
• Europe: Turkey, Ukraine;
• Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia;
